Social Work Intern
About Anita
Hello. I’m Anita, a Master's-level social work intern. I had my first career in secondary special education, have experience as a hospice intern, and am a trauma-informed yoga instructor. I work to create a calm, supportive space where you can explore your purpose and navigate life’s transitions.
My approach is collaborative and client-paced because I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to assist you in building autonomy and achieving your goals.
My path to social work grew out of a lifelong passion for helping people thrive. This journey began with 15 years as a special education teacher, during which I supported and guided high school students and their families, helping them transition to adult life. My experience as a hospice intern has given me a deeper understanding of ways to assist others in dealing with grief and loss. With my background as a yoga instructor, I incorporate movement, breathwork, meditation, and grounding for stress relief and nervous system regulation when appropriate. With this background and an interest in using nature and green spaces as tools for healing, I am developing an integrative, whole-person approach that supports the heart, mind, and body.
I use a blend of strengths-based, client-centered therapies, including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, and psychoeducation to meet your needs. Together, we can work on navigating life transitions, managing anxiety and stress, personal growth, and improving executive functioning. My goal is to help you strengthen coping strategies to guide your goals and discover a clear sense of identity and purpose. While most of my experience is with adolescents and adults, I welcome clients of all ages and backgrounds. I will work thoughtfully to support your developmental and emotional needs.
I am passionate about staying connected to my people and to the natural world. I embrace life with my husband, our two children, and a crew of dogs, cats, and chickens.
You can often find me outdoors gardening, bicycling, jogging, practicing yoga, and enjoying time with my loved ones. I am also a believer in lifelong learning and in exploring new ideas and ways to grow both personally and professionally.
