About Anaya
I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Social Work, and my experience has largely focused on working with youth under the age of 21, particularly middle and high school students. I have supported individuals navigating loss, trauma, relationship challenges, depression, anxiety, and more. I believe the tools we begin developing in childhood play a meaningful role in shaping our future, while also recognizing that growth and change are always possible at any stage of life.
In addition to my work with youth, I have experience working with adults who are navigating trauma, major life transitions, and emotional challenges. While our early experiences help build our foundation, I believe it is never too late to expand our “toolbox” and develop new ways of coping, healing, and growing.
I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Play Therapy, Child-Centered Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Narrative Therapy. With a background in Cultural Anthropology, I take a holistic and culturally responsive approach, recognizing how different aspects of identity and life experiences come together to shape who we are. At the same time, I believe that while our experiences influence us, they do not define us.
I strive to create a space where every client feels heard, respected, and valued—no matter their background, beliefs, or identity. My goal is to meet you where you are, with empathy and understanding, while supporting you in moving toward the life you want.
Outside of the therapy room, I’m a bit of a self-proclaimed nerd. I enjoy playing video games (and even built my own gaming PC), playing Dungeons & Dragons, doing puzzles, and watching documentaries. I also love reading—especially psychological thrillers, fantasy, science fiction, and romance. In my free time, I enjoy arts and crafts like crocheting, diamond painting, and building LEGO sets. I also like thrifting, having picnics, and exploring museums. I share my home with two cats and hope to learn how to garden in the future.
Coming from a cultural background where mental health is not always openly discussed, I am passionate about helping clients feel seen, understood, and validated in their lived experiences. I believe that healing is a personal journey, and I am here to walk alongside you as you find a path that feels right for you—at your own pace.
